Red Loop Trail – Pickett’s Mill Battlefield - Picketts Mill Battlefield

From the ravine overlook at the Visitor Center, this trail yields right leading toward the infamous cornfield that almost caused the defeat of the Confederates. From the field, continue along the trail to Picketts Mill where you follow the creek leading up a steep hill to the initial Federal position. From there, you follow the route of the Federals into the ravine, tracing the route of the assault up the ravine and returning to the Visitor Center. Along the way you will see original Civil War entrenchments, artillery emplacements, wagon roads, and pristine forest. Picketts Mill trails are dog-friendly.
