At this secluded nature escape you’ll find the world’s largest zip line course and climbing wall, as well as kayaking, horseback riding, summer camps, overnight lodging, team building, wildlife shows, and so much more!

Zip Line Tours
Historic Banning Mills holds the Guinness World Record for the longest zip line course with more than 11 miles of zip lines, suspension bridges, and aerial obstacles to explore! Tons of different tour options allow guests to choose the level of adventure that best fits them, from beginner to extreme!

Climbing Walls
Historic Banning Mills holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest free standing climbing wall at over 147 feet tall. Four climbing walls ranging from 25 – 147 feet tall can be found attached to the 150 foot tall adventure tower, along with a 100 foot free fall, two rappelling walls, and tons of zip lines!

Horseback Tours
Historic Banning Mills offers exciting horseback tours providing guests a unique way to explore the historic Snake Creek Gorge. Along the ride guests will travel down historic water spill ways and trials and discover several ruins from the old textile mills while taking in the gorgeous natural scenery!

Hiking
Historic Banning Mills has over 15 miles of hiking trails to explore along the historic Snake Creek Gorge! Along the trails you’ll find tons of suspension bridges from a few feet long to more than 600 feet in length! During your hike you’ll discover historic ruins from the once booming textile industry that used to call this area home, along with gorgeous views of the gorge and natural scenery along the creek.

Kayaking
Historic Banning Mills offers a 7-mile kayak tour along a beautiful section of the Chattahoochee River, providing a guided tour of the area Chief William McIntosh and many Native Americans once called home! This area of the river is mostly calm with rapids generally not reaching higher than class one, allowing the entire family to join in the fun!

Birds of Prey Shows
On select dates Historic Banning Mills offers live Birds of Prey shows allowing guests to get up close and personal with many unique native species of birds, including: an American Bald Eagle, Eurasian Eagle Owl, Barn Owls, Barred Owls, Red Tailed Hawks, Turkey Vultures, Black Vultures, Paragon Falcons, and more!

Beautiful rolling terrain and long range views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains and the Cohutta Wilderness make this public course one of the most enjoyable and picturesque golf courses in North Georgia.

This outfitter offers guided fly fishing on private, beautiful streams in North Georgia. They provide all equipment and guide [only 2 fishermen per guide] for a four-hour trip, from the beginner to the expert.

151 campsites (118 sites have 50 amp electrical and water hookups, 2 with sewer hookups, 41 sites without water and electric), dump station, coin laundry, hot showers, boat ramp, swimming beach, playgrounds, attendant on duty.

18 primitive campsites with pit toilets, boat ramp, and dock. Accessible by dirt road only.

This trail system is in Ridgeway Recreation Area at Carters Lake. The main trail is a six-mile loop, with several short spur trails that allow for longer rides. Trail is a mixture of single track, narrow logging roads, challenging climbs, stream crossings and technical downhills.

Plum Nelly is a family-owned campground nestled in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. We offer easy access from Hwy. 515, pull-thru sites, 30-50 amp electrical service and sewer hookups at every site.

Group camping only. Shelter, 6 tables, large grill, 10 tent pads, running water, comfort station. Public beach open daily May?mid-Sept. Closed Oct.?Mar.

Members may practice daily at the arena. On Thursdays, members gather to ride horses, mules and wagons. The club hosts an annual rodeo in September.

This hike courses through a rich valley along Bear Creek and visits the Gennett Poplar, a giant tulip poplar tree. Bear Creek is popular for both hiking and mountain biking.

The majority of Gilmer County’s apple houses are along this stretch, thus the name ‘Apple Alley’– allowing you to visit several houses, each with their own signature treat.

New Echota is one of the most significant Cherokee Indian sites in the nation and was where the tragic ‘Trail of Tears’ officially began. Visitors can see 12 original and reconstructed buildings. Nature trails leads visitors to New Town Creek and a small beaver pond.

The Vann House survives as Georgia’s best-preserved historic Cherokee Indian home. A guided tour allows visitors to see the house which features beautiful hand carvings, a remarkable “floating” staircase, a 12-foot mantle and fine antiques.

Fort Mountain State Park got its name from an ancient and mystical 855-foot-long rock wall atop the highest point of the mountain. Activities include hiking, swimming, camping, fishing, boating, cabin rentals, and mini-golf.

This quiet park in northwest Georgia offers outstanding fishing on two stocked lakes. Visitors can hike along three miles of lake loop trails and relax in swings.

Non-profit Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association/Woodstock Chapter sponsors the Blanket’s Creek Bicycle Trail, three wooded bicycle trails — flat, intermediate, and advanced — for all types of riders. Boasting 80,000 visitors annually, trails are open 7 days a week except when wet. Helmets required.

Native American and Appalachian heritage take center stage at the Funk Heritage Center on the campus of Reinhardt University. Films, artifacts and an Appalachian Settlement tell the stories of Georgia’s earliest residents.

Rich history dating back to 1000 AD can be discovered at Etowah Indian Mounds. Explore 54 acres of Mississippian primitive culture including earthen mounds, a village site, and more.

Pine Mountain Gold Museum offers gold and gemstone panning, over three miles of self-guided walking trails, picnic pavilion and picnic tables, live farm animal exhibit and the Pine Mountain Scenic Railroad with 3/4 mile tour around the mountain.

This 130-acre park includes an 8-acre lake and one pond that is stocked periodically by the City of Villa Rica. The park is open daylight until dark daily and admission is free. Boats permitted with electric motors only and a fishing license is required.

Celebrate the fascinating military history of the ‘fighting Sixth’ at the The 6th Cavalry Museum. This legendary unit was stationed at The Post at Fort Oglethorpe from 1919 until 1942 and serves today in Germany and Korea.

This family orchard and apple house operates daily, August-December, offering apples, fresh produce, jams, jellies, relishes, apple cider, boiled peanuts, pies, fritters and other baked goods, bird houses and feeders, and other crafts.
