Soar with the eagles from Lookout Mountain with a hang-gliding rush. Lookout Mountain has over 20 miles of ridge overlooking miles of farmland, making it a great site for ridge and thermal soaring on the right days. Lookout Mountain Flight Park offers individual and tandem hang gliding and paragliding training to help you fulfill your dreams to fly.

Or why not see Georgia’s scenery like you never have before, from a hot air balloon. North Georgia companies such as Balloons Over Georgia (north Atlanta area) and Balloon Safaris International (Lake Hartwell area) will take you up where you can

see Lake Lanier and/or Lake Hartwell, Stone Mountain, Kennesaw Mountain, the Atlanta skyline and the beginnings of the Blue Ridge and Appalachian mountain ranges from your lofty perch.

Glider rides can be arranged at many general aviation airports throughout the state. Take a sight-seeing ride from Roosevelt Memorial Airport in historic Warm Springs to experience inland thermal flying or connect with the Mid-Georgia Soaring Association in Monroe for a discovery ride or flight instruction.

Many people’s bucket list includes parasailing on ocean breezes on the Georgia coast. Check with outfitters on Tybee Island and St. Simons Island to find an outfitter who can send you sailing. Or try kiteboarding, the ultimate wind and water sport. Kiteboarding lessons are necessary for novices, with a good amount of wind awareness, environment, and flight training before learning to ride on a board. You’ll find instruction from outfitters from Tybee Island to St. Simons Island.

Whichever way you choose to “get air,” Georgia has just the sport for you.
