Georgia’s Outdoors: At Your Service

Planning your next outdoor experience in Georgia? Make sure you have the gear and supplies you need, gas up your vehicle, pick up some bait and snacks, and head out. Wherever you go in the state, you’ll find retailers and service providers ready to help you make the most of your adventure.

Georgia offers numerous RV dealerships throughout the state who can introduce you to a wonderful new way to travel. There are roomy RV models available to meet the size, amenity, power and pleasure needs of all travelers and their budgets. And, even the most dependable RVs occasionally require the expert service of certified technicians; those are available throughout the state as well.

Services can include fuel, outfitters, restaurants, supplies, restrooms, tour providers – practically anything you need for a successful outing. Even on the remote Appalachian Trail, it is rare to go more than 50 miles without an opportunity to resupply at a country store, a small-town grocery, or from an outfitter or hostel. Many hostels on the A.T. provide shuttles into the nearest town.

The Visitor Centers at Georgia’s state parks can also help with supplies, especially if the park has a campground. Most state parks have laundry facilities and sell camping supplies. Even the gift shops at the state’s historic sites usually stock a few snacks and water or sodas, sunscreen and other sundries, along with the mementos of the site experience.

Rest areas along Georgia’s interstates are also sources for supplies. The Georgia Department of Transportation maintains 17 rest areas along Interstates 16, 20, 75, and 95. Several have restrooms open 24 hours in addition to being equipped with water fountains, picnic areas, and vending machines. Additionally, 11 state Visitor Information Centers – generally located where the interstates cross into Georgia – and numerous regional tourism centers are staffed with friendly locals who provide visitors with restrooms, snacks/drinks, dog parks, picnic tables, and information on local attractions.

So, no need to overload your pack when you plan your Georgia outing. You’ll be able to pack lightly and replenish as you go along.
