Discover What’s Just Around the Bend in Richmond Hill, Georgia

There’s no better place to get out and enjoy the sunshine than Richmond Hill, Georgia, off I-95, just minutes from Savannah. Fishing and Eco Tour charters are available out of Ft. McAllister and Kilkenny marinas. Hunting is available at local preserves and the Richmond Hill Wildlife Management Area. In addition, there are numerous spots for boating, kayaking, and canoeing along our rivers. If you enjoy horseback riding, our local stables can offer a guided historic tour.

Embark on a journey along the Coastal Bryan Heritage Trail where you will learn about many of the fascinating people and stories that make up the rich heritage of south Bryan County, from the Guale Indian Village to automobile magnate Henry Ford.

At Fort McAllister State Historic Park and Campground, look for fiddler crabs and raccoons while exploring the fort’s nature trails, and imagine life as a Civil War soldier when touring bunkers. On the banks of the Ogeechee River, this scenic park showcases the best-preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy. Nestled among giant live oaks, Spanish moss and salt marsh, this park is a beautiful location for camping, fishing, boating and picnicking. Seven cabins sit on stilts near the marsh, surrounded by palm trees and palmettos.

The shaded campground is bordered by tidal Redbird Creek, a boat ramp, fishing dock and the nature trail. A large picnic area offers river views and playgrounds, while another boat ramp provides access to the Ogeechee River. Kayak, canoe and SUP rentals, bike rentals, a playground and geocaching are available.

Public boat ramps around Richmond Hill include the Bryan County Boat Launch just outside Fort McAllister, the Demeries Creek Boat Launch on GA Hwy. 144, west of I-95, and the Tivoli River Fishing Pier & Kayak Launch. Inshore and offshore fishing charters depart from Fort McAllister Marina and Kilkenny Marina.

The 7,400-acre Richmond Hill Wildlife Management Area (WMA) offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, small game and feral hog. There are also archery and shooting ranges, a boat ramp and canoe access. The WMA offers river fishing and occasionally hosts kids’ fishing events. The archery range features four static target stations, archery tower with six 3D targets and a 3D archery trail with 15 targets. The shooting range features a 14-station, 100-yard rifle range, a 10-station, 50-yard pistol range and indoor & outdoor classrooms.
