Rum Creek Wildlife Management Area is in Monroe County. This 5,884-acre property has hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, small game, dove, waterfowl, and coyote. Rum Creek WMA is a bird watcher’s paradise, where you’re likely to spot bald eagles and perhaps catch a glimpse of the rare red-cockaded woodpecker.

Lake Juliette is a 3,600-acre reservoir operated by Georgia Power that is surrounded by the Rum Creek WMA and is adjacent to the Rum Creek MARSH project, a refuge area for wintering waterfowl. The most common species of ducks found on the lake include ring-necked ducks, lesser scaup, teal, and mallards. Canada geese also can be found feeding on open points scattered around the lake.
