DO IT: Hiking - Huckleberry Trail – Don Carter State Park

Huckleberry Trail – Don Carter State Park - Don Carter State Park

Named for the abundance of huckleberries – a native plant related to the blueberry – this loop will take you into a beautiful wooded area that hugs the shoreline of Lake Lanier. Intended for foot traffic exclusively and marked by white blazes, the trail is wide and can be accessed via other connecting trails. The loop portion of the trail offers lake views along the shore of a peninsula, and the cove of the swimming beach is visible from the straightaway that leads to and from the loop. The entire route will take between 30-45 minutes to hike. There is a parking lot near the trailhead.
