The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has partnered with the Aimee Copeland Foundation to provide free, high mobility all-terrain wheelchairs at 10 state parks, historic sites and a wildlife center. The chairs can be used for hiking, hunting, fishing and other outdoor education and recreational activities.

Coleman River Trail

Clayton, GA

Take U.S. 76 from Clayton for 8 miles. Turn right heading north on Persimmon Road and drive 4 miles. Turn left heading northwest on FS Road 70 and proceed 1.25 miles. The trailhead will be on your right. The trail begins about 150 yards north of the Tallulah River campground at the Coleman River bridge.

Parking for this looping system of dirt trails is in the Rome Civic Center Parking Lot. Accessed from the Davis Drive Trail, this is loop is named for the Civilian Conservation Corps that built the stone bridge, amphitheater, and the civic center on Jackson Hill.

Go for a ride on the Yellow Jacket Equestrian Trail that forms a loop through the east side of General Coffee State Park. Horse trailer parking is available at Picnic Shelter #7, and all riders must check in at the park office.
