Kids can enjoy a refreshing day in the park, playing on the sculptures or enjoying the impressive views of the city below from the very top of the hill. If there is one reason, however, to visit Coleman Hill Park with children, it would be for the Coleman Hill Slide, a concrete slide that kids can plop down with a piece of cardboard and slide on down to the end. The slide itself is not slick, so bring a piece of cardboard or a sled to help gain speed.

The Capitol Theatre opened its doors for the first time on November 10, 1916. Renovated and reopened in 2006, it has become an entertainment cornerstone and the premier concert venue in middle Georgia.

The park has a large picnic pavilion, football field, softball fields, outdoor basketball court, and Traffic Park, a space where children can learn the rules of the road and biking skills in a safe environment. It is also home to the first splashpad in Perry. This 30 acre park also has a trail head for the “White Tail Trail” section linking to Perry’s beautiful nature trail network along Big Indian Creek. New playground equipment was installed in 2019 and is considered a destination playground.

Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee is a private residential golf club and resort. Leave your worries at the Clubhouse and step onto 700 gently rolling acres of golfing perfection. Towering pines, expansive fields of native Bluestein grass and the shimmering waters of Lake Oconee combine to create a serene landscape.

This park in downtown Macon includes a basketball court and splash pad.

Beautiful Dames Ferry is the only campground at 3,600-acre Lake Juliette, a crystal-clear lake formed by the Ocmulgee River. Many of the campsites have magnificent waterfront views. Anglers can cast a line for bream, crappie, largemouth bass, striped bass, redear and perch. Boating is limited to 25 horsepower motors. Nearby is the small town of Juliette made famous in the movie “Fried Green Tomatoes.” The campground is overseen by nearby High Falls State Park.

For 29 years, the annual Dogwood Festival has brought thousands of people to beautiful, historic Downtown Perry. The two-day celebration is held in April and includes an Arts & Crafts show and the Ultimate Air Dogs competition. On Saturday night, the festival features a Hot Air Balloon Glow with tethered rides.

This remarkable structure was designated a National Historic Site in 2008. Inside, you will find information about the city, history of Warner Robins, free Wi-Fi, coffee and restrooms.

A National Historic Site, the Elberta Depot is a significant landmark for the area. The depot served the residents of Houston County as a whistle stop for transporting produce to the surrounding area.

The Elder Mill Covered Bridge is one of 13 functioning covered bridges in Georgia, and the only covered bridge along the Georgia Antebellum Trail. Travel across the wooden trusses of the bridge that sits above Rose Creek.
